Best Missed-Call Text-Back Software

We compare dedicated missed-call tools, phone systems, AI receptionists and CRM automation platforms so you can choose the simplest solution that actually fits your business. There is no universal “best” missed-call tool — the right choice depends on whether you need one automatic text, a phone system, an AI receptionist, call tracking, or a complete CRM and automation system.

CRM platform

Roles describe the problem each product solves best — named picks are verified against official pricing and feature documentation.

What kind of missed-call solution do you actually need?

Four different categories answer an unanswered call, and they differ by an order of magnitude in price and complexity. Most of the disappointment we see comes from buying one category when the problem belonged to another.

01Lowest cost

Dedicated missed-call text-back tool

Best when

You only need an automatic SMS after an unanswered call, and somewhere to read the replies.

No pipeline, no sequences, and usually no reporting beyond message logs.

02Low

Business phone system

Best when

You need call routing, voicemail, extensions and hours-based handling, with texting alongside it.

Automation depth is limited; follow-up still depends on someone remembering.

03Medium

AI receptionist

Best when

You want calls answered and qualified automatically, including while you are working.

Judge on booking accuracy and escalation. Setup and tuning take real effort.

04Highest

CRM + lead automation platform

Best when

You need missed-call response plus pipeline, SMS and email follow-up, booking, reviews and broader automation.

Only worth it if you will use several of those. Otherwise you are paying for unused modules.

Decision tool

Which type of solution fits you?

Six questions. The output is a software category, not a product — which product within it depends on price and features we verify separately.

Do you only need an automatic SMS after a missed call?
Do you need calls answered live, or by AI?
Do you need appointment booking?
Do you need a CRM pipeline and follow-up sequences?
Do you manage multiple client accounts?
Do you need white labeling?

Indicated category

Dedicated tool

One feature, one price. If the only gap is that nobody hears back after an unanswered call, this is the cheapest reliable fix and the fastest to set up.

Automatic SMS within seconds

No phone-system replacement

No CRM migration required

1 of 6 answered. The output is a category only — product shortlists depend on verified pricing and features.

Comparison table

Five products, five different solution types — each verified against its own official documentation. The right column is where the real differences live.

Enzak

Dedicated tool

Best if you simply want an automatic text after a missed call and do not want to replace your phone system or adopt a full CRM.

Best for

Businesses that only want an automatic SMS after an unanswered call

Who should choose it

Your only gap is the first reply: callers who hang up hear nothing back. You keep your existing phone number, landline, VoIP or mobile, and you want this live without migrating anything.

Who should skip it

You need a pipeline, booking, sequences or reporting beyond message analytics — or two-way texting is core for you, since that is a separately priced add-on.

Pricing

$20/mo first month

$20 for the first month (80% off promo); the regular price is $99/mo and includes 1,000 texts per month. Additional users $10 each. The official page does not publish the billing cadence of the $49 two-way texting add-on, so it is not quoted as a monthly fee.

Last verified · Sep 2026

Key features

Automatic one-way SMS after an unanswered call

Custom working-hours and after-hours voice and text messages

1,000 text messages per month included

Works with existing landline, VoIP and mobile numbers — no new equipment

Analytics and reporting on your missed-call messages

Pros

Keeps your existing phone number and provider

Purpose-built: one clear job, fast to set up

Working-hours and after-hours message templates

Limitations

One-way texting in the core service — two-way texting is a paid add-on

No pipeline, booking or CRM features

Narrow by design: reporting is message-level, not lead-level

Allo

Phone system

Best for businesses that want missed-call recovery built directly into a modern business phone system.

Best for

Businesses that want missed-call recovery built into a modern business phone system

Who should choose it

You want a full business phone system — calling, routing, shared inbox — and missed-call text-back as a native part of it, with callers able to reply into one shared inbox.

Who should skip it

You already have a phone system you like, or you need a deep CRM pipeline rather than CRM sync, or you only want the text-back and nothing else.

Pricing

$45/user/mo

Relevant plan for this feature: Business at $45/user/mo on monthly billing (annual billing is lower, currently $32/user/mo). One-time $24 US/Canada 10DLC registration fee. 7-day free trial, no credit card.

Last verified · Sep 2026

Key features

Missed-call text-back included on the Business plan

Callers can reply — two-way conversation in a shared team inbox

Business calling with CRM sync and AI call summaries/transcription

Optional AI receptionist that answers calls, books appointments and transfers

Custom messages, business-hours rules and per-number language

Pros

Text-back and the phone system are one product — no integration glue

Two-way replies land in a shared inbox your team already uses

Auto-replies carry no per-text fees once 10DLC registration is done

Limitations

Missed-call text-back needs the Business plan — cheaper tiers don't include it

US/Canada texting requires a one-time $24 10DLC registration (3–7 days)

AI receptionist is an add-on billed as an additional Business seat

Upfirst

AI receptionist

Best for businesses that would rather have AI answer the missed call than send a text after it is already missed.

Best for

Businesses that would rather have AI answer the missed call than text after it is already missed

Who should choose it

Calls go unanswered while you work, and you want them answered, qualified and booked — with conditional forwarding that only routes to the AI when you are busy, away or unavailable.

Who should skip it

You specifically want an automatic text-back SMS after missed calls, or you need a CRM — Upfirst is an answering layer, not a lead database.

Pricing

$24.95/mo

Starter $24.95/mo (30 calls), Premium $59.95/mo (90 calls), Pro $159.95/mo (300 calls), Scale $299.95/mo (600 calls). All features are on every plan; annual billing saves 20%. 14-day free trial.

Last verified · Sep 2026

Key features

24/7 AI answering on every plan

Conditional call forwarding: answers when your line is busy, unanswered or unavailable

Call summaries, recording and transcription

Appointment scheduling with calendar integrations

Call transfers, in-call texting, spam filtering and multilingual support

Pros

Prevents the missed call instead of acknowledging it afterwards

Every plan includes the full feature set — only the call allowance changes

No setup fees, and spam calls or calls under 15 seconds don't count against the plan

Limitations

Not a text-back product — there is no documented automatic SMS after a missed call

Usage is capped by plan (30/90/300/600 calls); overage is per-call

No CRM: transcripts and summaries need a destination you provide

Check Current PricingDocumentation review · no hands-on testing yet

CallRail

Call tracking platform

Best when missed-call recovery needs to sit inside a larger call-tracking and marketing-attribution system.

Best for

Missed-call recovery inside a larger call-tracking and marketing-attribution system

Who should choose it

You already track calls for marketing attribution — or need to — and want the missed-call text response to live in the same system that reports which campaigns produce calls.

Who should skip it

You want a CRM or a phone system — CallRail is neither — or you only need a simple text-back without the tracking overhead.

Pricing

$50/mo

Lead Tracking starts at $50/mo on annual billing ($55 month-to-month) and includes 5 local numbers, 250 local minutes and 25 texts — usage beyond that is billed separately. AI Voice Assist is a separate add-on starting around $95/mo.

Last verified · Sep 2026

Key features

Automated text responses for missed calls on US/Canada numbers

Call and text tracking with marketing attribution

Call recording, routing, transcription and AI conversation insights

Automation rules connected to call data

Separate AI Voice Assist product for answering calls (add-on)

Pros

The missed-call text and the attribution data live in one place

Reporting shows which campaigns produced the calls you are recovering

14-day free trial and unlimited users on the Lead Tracking plan

Limitations

No text is sent for abandoned calls under 15 seconds

Toll-free tracking numbers can't send SMS — you may need a backup local number

Usage-based costs stack up: extra numbers, minutes and texts are billed separately

Check Current PricingDocumentation review · no hands-on testing yet

HighLevel

CRM platformAffiliate link

Best when missed-call text-back is only one part of a broader lead-management problem.

Best for

Businesses and agencies that need CRM, follow-up automation and missed-call response in one platform

Who should choose it

You also need a CRM pipeline, automated SMS/email follow-up, booking, reviews and forms — or you manage several client accounts and want white-label/SaaS options on the appropriate plan.

Who should skip it

You only want one simple automatic SMS, you already have a CRM your team uses, or you primarily need deep field-service functionality such as dispatch, inventory, technician routing or work-order management.

Pricing

$97/mo

Starter $97/mo, Unlimited $297/mo, Agency Pro $497/mo. Missed-call text-back is native on the platform; SMS/call usage is billed separately on top of the plan.

Last verified · Sep 2026

Key features

Native Missed Call Text Back with customizable messages

CRM pipelines, workflow automation and unified conversations

SMS/email marketing, forms, surveys and booking calendars

Inbound/outbound calling and reputation management

Sub-accounts (3 on Starter, unlimited on higher plans) and SaaS Mode on Agency Pro

Pros

One platform replaces the toolchain: CRM, messaging, booking and reviews

Missed-call response feeds straight into pipelines and follow-up workflows

Agency structure: client sub-accounts, rebilling and white-label options by plan

Limitations

Sends a text on every missed call — repeated callers get repeated texts unless you add workflow rules

US texting requires A2P 10DLC registration; SMS and call usage are billed on top of the plan

Broadest surface here: more setup, more to maintain than a single-purpose tool

When a full CRM platform makes sense — and when it does not

All-in-one platforms such as HighLevel and its competitors handle missed-call response as one feature among many. That is an advantage only if you need the others.

Worth considering when

Missed-call text-back is one part of a larger automation plan — pipeline, follow-up sequences, booking and reviews

Recovered calls need a CRM owner, a due date and automated follow-up

You want SMS and email follow-up to run from one system

Booking, forms and review requests should share one database with your calls

You manage several client accounts (sub-accounts) and need them separated

You want white-label/SaaS options for clients, which sit on the higher plans

Probably overkill when

You only need one automatic SMS after a missed call

You already have a CRM that your team actually uses

You primarily need field-service depth: dispatch, inventory, technician routing or job costing

Nobody on the team will configure and maintain the platform

Your call volume is low enough that a call-back rule or a simple tool covers it

Simple tool vs all-in-one platform: what are you actually paying for?

Select the capabilities you genuinely need. The stack column adds a separate product for each; the platform column assumes one subscription covers them.

Sample prices
Capabilities you need

Separate tools

$98/mo

3 subscriptions

All-in-one platform

$97/mo

Single subscription

Difference

Platform is $1/mo cheaper at this selection

The platform wins here because you have selected enough capabilities to cover its price. Migration effort and usage charges are not in either figure.

Illustrative example — not current market pricing. Usage charges for calls and SMS are billed separately by most vendors in both columns and are not included here.

Important distinction

CRM automation is not the same as field-service software.

A marketing CRM can text a missed caller and book the appointment. It generally will not dispatch the right technician, price the job from a rate card, or track what came off the van.

You likely need field-service software if you require

Dispatch and scheduling boards

Technician routing

Inventory and van stock

Job costing

Field estimates and sign-off

Work-order management

Methodology

How we evaluate missed-call software.

Pricing is taken from the vendor's own published pages where available, and the date of every check is printed on the page. Where pricing is quote-only, we say so rather than estimating.

Feature claims are verified against product documentation, not marketing pages. A feature behind an add-on or a higher tier is marked as partial, not as available.

Hands-on testing is identified where it has actually happened, and this page currently states that none has been performed. We do not describe first-hand experience we do not have.

Affiliate relationships do not determine inclusion, ordering or verdicts. Products with no commercial relationship are assessed and presented identically, and a product can be recommended over one that pays.

Where a cheaper or simpler category answers the problem, the page says so — including when that means recommending nothing new at all.

Who this guide is for

Missed calls cost different amounts depending on what a job is worth and how quickly a customer calls the next name on the list.

Frequently asked questions

An automatic SMS sent to a caller whose call was not answered, usually within seconds. The message acknowledges the call and offers a way to continue — a reply, a booking link, or a promised call-back time. The value is that the caller still has your number on screen when it arrives.

Disclosure and scope

Pricing and feature claims on this page were checked against each product's official documentation on the dates recorded in our research notes, and the page states when it was last verified. Where a capability could not be confirmed from official sources, the table marks it as unknown rather than guessing. We have not hands-on tested these products yet; when we do, testing notes will say so. Guidance about message consent and telecoms rules is general information, not legal advice — check the current requirements for your country and carrier before sending automated messages.
